About Central Lab

In pursuance to the provision of Section 17 (2) of Water (PCP) Act, 1974 and Air (PCP) Act, 1981, the Board has established one Central Laboratory and Eleven Regional Laboratories. The Central Laboratory has been functioning at Chandaka Industrial Estate, Plot No. B59/2 & 59/3, Patia since 2014.

2016-17

  • 68 nos. of students from following institutes were imparted Training on “Water/air quality parameters monitoring & analysis and Impact of pollutants on human health”.

2017-18

  • 176 nos. of 3rd Semester M.Sc. students of KIMS and AIIMS students from were imparted Training on “Water/air quality parameters monitoring & analysis and Impact of pollutants on human health”
  • Eleven numbers of 4th year M.Sc. (Environmental Science) Students of Utkal University were guided for conducting their Dissertation work in the Central Laboratory.

2018-19

  • Trainings on “Impact of air pollutants on Human beings and monitoring of Ambient air quality parameters” provided to 44 numbers of  medical students of AIIMS  in the Central Laboratory.
  • Four numbers of 1st year M.Sc. (Environmental Science) Students of Pondicherry University were guided for conducting their summer-internship work in the Central Laboratory.
  • Eight numbers of 4th year M.Sc. (Environmental Science) Students of Utkal University were guided for conducting their Dissertation work in the Central Laboratory.
  • In House training on “Monitoring and analysis of Ambient Air Quality Parameters (NH3, O3,Pb, Ni, As & Benzo(a)pyrene” in dust particles imparted to 17 no of scientific staffs from different Regional Offices  of the Board at Central Laboratory building located at Patia from 10th to 14th  December, 2018
  • Imparted training on “Monitoring and Analysis of Environmental Parameters from 8th to 30th November, 2018 to 20 numbers of participants under “Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP)” organized by the Centre for Environmental Studies (CES). The participants were given demonstration and hands-on training for sampling and analysis of water and wastewater samples, ambient air monitoring and analysis, source emission monitoring and analysis, noise monitoring, soil and hazardous waste sampling and analysis.

2019-20

  • Trainings on “Impact of air pollutants on Human beings and monitoring of Ambient air quality parameters” provided to 130 numbers of medical students of AIIMS  in the Central Laboratory.
  • (c) Two numbers of 1st year M.Sc. (Environmental Science) Students of Pondicherry University and 04 numbers of 4th Year M.Sc. (Environmental Science) Students of Utkal University were guided for conducting their Dissertation work in the Central Laboratory.
  • An in-house two-days awareness programme on “NABL Accreditation of Central Laboratory” was organized for the laboratory personnels.
  • Imparted training on “Environment Impact Assessment” to 60 participants in three different batches during the period 16th -27th January, 2020, 17th -26th February, 2020 and 02nd-13th March, 2020 from under “Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP)” organized by the Centre for Environmental Studies (CES). The participants were given demonstration and hands-on training for sampling and analysis of water and wastewater samples, ambient air monitoring and analysis, source emission monitoring and analysis, noise monitoring, soil and hazardous waste sampling and analysis.
  • Imparted training on “ETP/STP Operation and Maintenance” to 60 participants in three different batches during the period 21st -27th January, 2020, 24th -26th February, 2020 and 11th -13th March, 2020 under “Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP)” organized by the Centre for Environmental Studies (CES). The participants were given demonstration and hands-on training for sampling and analysis of water and wastewater samples.
  • Imparted training on “Waste Management” to 60 participants in three different batches during the period 28th -31st January, 2020, 27th -29th February,2020 and 04th -06th March, 2020 under “Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP)” organized by the Centre for Environmental Studies (CES). The participants were given demonstration and hands-on training for sampling and analysis of water and wastewater samples, ambient air monitoring and analysis, source emission monitoring and analysis, soil and hazardous waste sampling and analysis.

2020-21

  • Training on “Ambient air quality monitoring and impact of air pollutants on environment” was provided to 61 nos of Nursing BSc (Hons.) students at Central Laboratory during January to March, 2021.

 2021-22

  • Training on “Ambient air quality monitoring and impact of air pollutants on environment” was provided to 37 nos of Nursing BSc (Hons.) students at Central Laboratory during January to March, 2021.

2022-23

  • Technical support to Commissionerate of Police has been provided during joint inspection of temporary firework shop erected in Open area of Bhubaneswar during Deepawali festival under Explosive Rule, 2008.
  • 118 nos of AIIMS Students Bhubaneswar were imparted hands on training on “Ambient Air Quality Monitoring” at Central Laboratory. Besides it, 35 no. of students of KMBB Engineering College, visited Central Laboratory for exposure on Air, Water & Biological Sampling & Analysis.
  • 13 nos. of BSc Students of XIM, University, Nijigada Kurki, Harirajpur, Puri were imparted hands on training on “Environmental pollution with its impact on Human Health at Central Laboratory, Bhubaneswar.
  • Four numbers of 2nd year M.Sc. (Environmental Science) Students of Utkal University were guided for conducting their Dissertation work in the Central Laboratory.
  • Hands on training on Ambient air monitoring, Source Emission Monitoring, Noise Monitoring, Water sample collection and analysis were given to the technical staffs of Regional Offices of the Board at Balangir and Koraput during the period 24.02.2023 to 04.03.2023.

2023-24

  • Four numbers of 2nd year M.Sc. (Environmental Science) Students of Utkal University were guided for conducting their Dissertation work in the Central Laboratory.
  • 126 nos of AIIMS Students Bhubaneswar were imparted hands-on training on “Ambient Air Quality Monitoring” at Central Laboratory.
